As anyone who has follows news in\nAmerica will know, the US opioid epidemic is getting truly out of hand. Thanks\nto the various confusing matters that help to fuel the drug industry, it\u2019s hard\nto see a short-term solution to what has now become quite a long-term problem.\nWith state help often stretched to the limit, though, many times it\u2019s up to the\ncommunities themselves to do something about this and to take action: which is\nwhat we are seeing in some parts of the USA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A lot of people are turning to really\nunconventional treatments. One such treatment which has become very popular is\na nasal spray treatment known as Narcan. It\u2019s a nasal\ninhalant<\/a> that is also a form of\nnaloxone, a drug that is used to help overcome an opioid overdose. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s become a common choice of drug\nto try and help heroin addicts to try and overcome their super-strength\naddictions. Sadly, if you spend any time around communities with drug problems,\nyou\u2019ll begin to hear the world Narcan pop-up in conversation time and time\nagain: while it\u2019s a lot better than people taking heroin, it\u2019s still an\nexpensive habit that becomes increasingly necessary. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What\u2019s really interesting \u2013 and in\nmany ways heroic \u2013 is that many addicts will be first to react with a Narcan\nspray. It\u2019s commonplace for addicts to be in need of immediate assistance:\noften, first-responders are unable to get there on time. Thinking fast,\nempathetic addicts will often let their friend use their Narcan spray to overcome\ntheir overdose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why is\nthis happening?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s hard to say exactly \u2013 for one,\nthese communities are often much tighter than people give them credit for. And\nwhile the medical teams do all they can to help addicts within the realism of\nwhat their resources allow, it\u2019s easy to feel left behind. For that reason,\nit\u2019s easy to see why heroin addicts might wish to have their own solution\non-hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s also become commonplace due to the\nexplosion on popularity and usage of fentanyl. It\u2019s incredible power means that\nmany addicts simply want to have something that could be used in a pinch to\nhelp themselves \u2013 or a friend \u2013 out of an overdose. It\u2019s now actually becoming\nmore or less essential for these addicts to have the nasal spray on them:\nwithout it, who knows what might happen?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Narcan has become a go-to choice, and\nit\u2019s good that it exists: while it might be more expensive than it perhaps\nshould, the solution has become a go-to life saver for many people. In the near\nfuture, it might become as common on the streets as the very drugs that it\nworks so hard to overcome: and that can only be a good thing for drug users. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
