El Chapo $5 Million Heroin Bust – Yes, It’s Still Happening

El Chapo Heroin

Even though El Chapo is behind bars, this hasn’t stopped his drug network from making progress. Recently three alleged drug dealers were arrested with a whopping $5 million worth of heroin between them. Some of the packages were even branded “El Chapo”, according to officials.

The New York Special Narcotics Prosecutor, Bridget G. Brennan, said: “The successful investigation announced today disrupted the flow of millions of dollars’ worth of heroin to our city and region,” she also said, “Reducing the supply of lethal addictive narcotics remains our most effective prevention tool.”

A team of agents were looking around the Allerton neighbourhood when they noticed Luis Carmona-Illarraza leaving 3039 Wallace Avenue with a large shopping bag. Placed in the back floor of a Toyota Corolla, the agents pulled him over and found a whopping 70,000 glassines of heroine within the shopping bag. Using video surveillance overlooking the building, they also found Joseph Medina-Hidalgo and Amaury Lora-Grullon. Lora-Grullon was then seen dropping a large suitcase into the back of a 2013 Toyota Camry car.

Officers found the car, pulled it over, and found 17,000 further glassines of heroin in the car. The agents then arranged a warrant for the apartment, and found a large narcotics mill taking place – with masses of heroin-filled glassine all over the place. in total, they took around 6 ½ lbs in brick form and around 170,000 glassines of heroin, ready to be distributed out, back to the station.

They had various brandings, from NBA and Superman to El Chapo and even Dunkin Donuts. These drugs are now off the streets. It’s but one small step in the right direction towards reducing drug use in this country.
